Eric Boardman married Marjorie Holmes on the 19th
February 1944 at St Nicholas Church, Radford in Coventry.
Killed In Action:
Private Eric James Boardman was killed in action on the
7 January 1945. Notification of his death was sent to his wife on the 23 January
1945.

Mrs Boardman,
93, Hewitt Avenue,
Radford,
Coventry.
30th December, 1945.
Dear Mrs Boardman
......I have received your letter of the 12th December,
1945.
......The following are the details of your late
husband’s death:-
......He was killed during an attack by “D” Company
of this Battalion at the Cross-roads Kin-U in Northern Burma on the 7th January,
1945.
......Your husband, who was with the leading
assault troops was cut down by Small Arms fire from the Japanese position.
He did an excellent job, one of which we are all proud.
......If you need assistance in any direction
you may contact the Regimental Secretary at Brock Barracks, Reading, or myself.

Roll Of Honour:
......Mrs, M. Boardman, 93, Hewitt Avenue,
Coventry, has received news that her husband. Pte. Eric J. Boardman, Royal
Berkshire Regiment, has been killed in action in Burma. Pte. Boardman,
the only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Boardman, 70, Vine Street, Coventry, attended
Wheatley Street School, and was employed at Baginton airport, afterwards
at S.S. Cars, Ltd. He joined the Forces in March, 1943.
